The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the appointment of Babar Azam, the former captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team, as the team’s captain once again.
PCB Director Media Alia Rashid while talking to Independent Urdu has confirmed the decision that batsman Babar Azam has been appointed as the captain of the ODI and T20 team.
According to Alia Rashid: ‘Babar Azam has been made ODI and T20 captain only, not Test format.’

According to the statement issued by PCB, Shaheen Afridi says that ‘As a team player, it is my duty to support our captain Babar Azam. I have played under his captaincy and have respect for him.’

Under the leadership of Babar Azam, Pakistan beat India for the first time in the ICCT Twenty20 World Cup 2021. In the 2022 T20 World Cup, he led the team to the final. It was Pakistan’s first final in a World Cup since 2009.
According to PCB, his appointment as captain reflects PCB’s confidence in his ability to lead and unite the team to success.
29-year-old Babar Azam has played 52 Tests, 117 ODIs and 109 T20I matches for Pakistan. Apart from this, Babar Azam has led the Pakistani team in 71 T20 matches including the T20 World Cup.
Under Babar Azam’s captaincy, Pakistan won 42 matches and lost 23 matches.
Babar Azam resigned from the captaincy of all three formats in November last year, after which the PCB appointed Shaheen Afridi as the T20 and Shan Masood as the captain of the Test format, however, no decision has been made regarding the ODI captaincy. was not done.
