Ben Tulett moved from INEOS Grenadiers to Visma-Lease a Bike this winter. The 22-year-old Englishman is known as a great talent, but they too have their idols.
Tulett turned pro as a youngster, at the then Alpecin-Fenix. After flashes of talent in the Amstel Gold Race and Flèche Wallonne, INEOS took him away. He raced the Giro as a British employee, taking two fifth places in time trials in 2022, and a final victory in the Tour of Norway last season. Now a challenge awaits at Jumbo-Lease a Bike.
“We had been in contact for a long time, so I immediately felt the trust,” he tells In De Leiderstrui. “It was a breeze for me, an environment in which I immediately felt comfortable. This is important to me and therefore I see it as the best place to develop as an athlete and as a driver, for my short and long term goals.”
And Tulett can do it together with his great role model, Wout van Aert. “I received a special welcome, I was given a t-shirt of my Wout model. Very special, I won’t forget it for the rest of my life. Wout comes from cross country, so I grew up with him. It was nice to spend time with him, I can learn a lot from him in the future. I can’t wait to support someone like Wout in the big competitions next year. I want to support them as best I can and learn something from it.”
