The Armenian-American technology company “Gurus” started its work in a small office in Yerevan, and today the company has its headquarters in Yerevan and branches in Vanadzor, Ijevan, Gyumri, as well as in Austin, Texas, USA.

The main directions of the company’s activity

The company provides biometric services to international pharmaceutical, biotechnology and research companies.

As Arthur Sargsyan, senior SAS programmer of “Gurus” company, told NEWS.am, using SAS and R programming languages, “Gurus” performs data analysis of biostatistical and clinical trials on behalf of pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies.

Since 2021, the company is the official representative of SAS Institute in Armenia.

According to Hasmik Mesropyan, senior SAS programmer of “Gurus”, after the analysis and standardization of clinical trial data, reports prepared on the basis of the results obtained regarding the safety and effectiveness of researched drugs are submitted by the client to the relevant authorities for approval, e.g. in the USA: FDA.

“Gurus” courses

The company considers the training program created and developed by it to be one of its main achievements, thanks to which the company replenishes the list of its employees not only in Yerevan, but also in the regions of the republic. As the company’s senior SAS programmer Narek Torosyan mentioned, “Gurus” has already conducted more than 50 free courses and now has about 100 employees in order to replenish the team.

According to the director of the company, Vahe Martirosyan, by training personnel and opening branches in the homeland, “Gurus” contributes to the balanced development of marzes.

“We go to marzes not for cheap labor, but to find smart personnel in order to participate in the equal development of marzes. “Since opening our first branch in Vanadzor, we have noted that the salaries of our employees in the marzes will not differ from the head office in Yerevan, and today, guided by the same principle, we have branches in Ijevan and Gyumri,” he said.

To participate in the company’s courses, you need a basic education, knowledge of the English language and, most importantly, motivation to acquire a new profession.

Branch office in Austin, Texas

As Vahe Martirosyan mentioned, the branch in the USA will provide an opportunity to enter new markets and work with new companies. According to him, there is great interest in the training program in South America, and they intend to establish cooperation in that direction.

As US Deputy Ambassador to RA Chip Leitinen mentioned, the US Embassy in RA helped the company in opening a branch in Austin.

The US Embassy, along with our partners at the US Department of Commerce, supported Gurus’ recent expansion into the US by opening a branch office in Austin, Texas, making Gurus a true Armenian-American company. We acknowledge that Armenia’s powerful and developing technological sector can play an important role in the development of relations with the West. “Companies like Gurus are among the pioneers of Armenia’s vision of economic stability and becoming a technological crossroads,” he said.

Rebranding: The new face of “Gurus”.

For its fifth anniversary, Gurus has rebranded, changing the logo and website design to make it more user-friendly.

“Gurus” marketing specialist Lilit Simonyan said that the company’s logo has a new color: green and statistical elements. “Green symbolizes vitality, and statistical elements – growth and stability.”

Anniversary wishes

The jubilee anniversary was an opportunity to summarize the company’s activities, talk about prospects, and listen to wishes.

Acting Rector of the State University of Economics of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, wished the “Gurus” company to become a unicorn in another five years, promoting the Made in Armenia brand in the IT sector.

Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia Inga Harutyunyan noted that “Gurus” is one of the youngest among the 170 members of the chamber, and at the same time very promising.

“In our reality, Gurus is a change-making organization, starting from the fact that the field it deals with is very interesting, technological, progressive, very important for the world.” Being an established organization in the US, it can create opportunities for other companies in Armenia, connecting Armenia to the larger world and bringing their know-how, their way of working, their knowledge and skills both in working with people and in the market.

“I would like Gurus offices to increase around the world, because in this way Armenia will be connected with the world with more threads and stronger, knowledge-based competition, which is the most important thing for our country,” he said.
