The new provisions that are being implemented to improve the public passenger transportation service being carried out by the municipality of San Miguel de Tucumán generated conflicting opinions from the parties involved, in addition to doubts and complaints from users. Because of this, LG Play spoke with Jorge Berrettavice president of the Association of Automotive Transport Businessmen of Tucumán (Aetat) y Benjamin NievaSecretary of Urban Mobility, about the validity of the free student ticket and the changes in central streets.
The complaints of many citizens detail that, although some students already have the card in their possession, they cannot enjoy the benefit and, on the contrary, are forced to pay for the ticket.
Regarding this, Berretta made it clear that there is no specific agreement signed yet with the municipality and that “the free ticket will work as soon as the student has their card with their travel credits, it is not our provision,” he clarified.
The program would benefit “around 40,000 users,” but they are still in the “registration process” even if the plastics are delivered. That final number “will depend on the number of students or parents who register their children” to obtain travel cards, said the business representative.
“Not listening to our opinions does not limit the actions of the executive,” warned the vice president and added that they agree with all the new provisions, both the free ticket, the change of direction of the streets and the SUBE card, to improve daily. the service.

Even though the municipality is carrying out the registration and delivering the free transportation plastics, the drivers have the order to charge the students for the ticket because, according to Aetat, the Executive never gave notice, also alluding that there is no signed agreement between the parties that detail this implementation.
Consequently, the head of Urban Mobility responded to the queries that reached LG Play and commented: “I spoke with Mr. Berretta and he knows that this issue is being processed. He is aware and we are in the registration stage of the Municipal Educational Ticket (BEM).”
Regarding the cost involved in the decision to implement a plan of this caliber, taking into account the last ticket increase that was approved last Wednesday, Nieva warned that it is the municipality that will be responsible for the total amount and “will have “We have to pay for each of these trips.”
Likewise, he clarified that “the businessman is paid based on the trips that the students make and in accordance with what the ordinance says because, when the cost of the ticket is approved, the subscriptions are also approved.”
More contradictions
Regarding the change of direction of the central streets that the Secretary of Urban Mobility announced yesterday, the transport businessman reported that they had a meeting “two months ago where generalities were discussed”, but not about this specific renovation. “I have no opinion because we found out through the media,” he said.
“We believe that, if there are going to be exclusive lanes, at least they have to be double: one for parking, loading and unloading of users and another for overtaking; because if it would not create more vehicular chaos, the logical thing would be that at certain times they are exclusive arteries,” said Berretta.
On the other hand, he spoke about the implementation of the SUBE card and said that the sector does not know “how or when it will take place, nor the points of sale, the distribution or what the recharge will be like, both human and virtual.”
