Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui has commented on the commitment of BGB to protect the border of Chittagong Hill Tracts.
He said that the BGB jawans have been performing their duty as independent guards in the border protection of the country.
On Friday (March 22) afternoon, BGB Director General visited BGB Immigration Checkpost ICP Bhawan, Maitri Setu and BGB Janmsmriti Pillar of Khagrachari Ramgarh International Passenger Terminal. Later he said these things during the press briefing.
Stating that various countries including Japan are investing around the Ramgarh land port, BGB Director General said that if the Ramgarh-Sabrum land port is opened, the economic conditions of the two countries will change drastically. Commercial relations will further expand. There will be more dynamics in the economy of Bangladesh and India. At the same time the hilly regions will become more prosperous.
In response to a question, he said that adequate security measures have been taken in the Ramgarh border section. Security measures will be strengthened if necessary.
Later, Director General of BGB visited the commemorative monument at BGB’s Sutikagar in Ramgarh border area and received salute from Ramgarh Rifles. He paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his martyred family members. He also paid tribute to the martyred BGB members in the liberation war.
After that, Director General of BGB distributed Iftar and Eid material among hundreds of needy families in the area on behalf of BGB Ramgarh zone.
Additional Director General of BGB Brigadier General Mohammad Jahangir, Southeast Region Commander Brigadier General Sajedur Rahman, Guimara Sector Commander Colonel SM Abul Ehsan, Khagrachari DGFI Det Commander Colonel Abdullah Mohammad Arif, 43 BGB Ramgarh Zone Commander Lieutenant Colonel Syed Imam Hossain were present.
