The temperature exceeded 40 degrees Celsius. Prana is oral in summer. Schools, colleges and universities closed due to abnormal temperature. The heat of the sun is like a flame of fire. Open air movement is the responsibility.

There, the Premier Cricket League is going on at Sher Bangla in Mirpur, Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatulla and BKSP in the capital Dhaka. Apart from the top star Shakib Al Hasan, all other stars and established performers are playing in the Premier League.

Shakib played 3 matches before Eid and went to USA to celebrate Eid with his family. The cricketers are playing matches every day from 9 am to 4:30-5 pm. How? How are they playing and running in the field for 7-8 hours despite the extreme heat? How are they running 15-20 yards, taking runs and fielders running after the ball?

Cricketers are very professional in this place. Playing is not only their addiction, love or affection, but also their profession. Due to their livelihood, they are also playing all day after suffering so much.

But there is undoubtedly a risk of getting sick playing this way. Bangladesh Cricket Board and AIUB have taken a joint initiative to make the cricketers aware of how to spend 8 hours on the field in such heat and to keep them healthy by adapting to such unusual heat.

A joint workshop of the two organizations was held at BCB on Wednesday. BCB and national team representatives and one representative of each club were present there.

After the workshop, BCB’s chief doctor Debashish Chowdhury told the media, ‘There was a lot of heat in the air, if it was just heat, there was not so much of a problem. But due to water vapour, humidity has increased here and this humidity is harmful for the game. It is also physically harmful. Even in this situation, the game will continue. During this period of warming, the heat will increase. We can’t stop the game. It has to be adapted.’

‘We have to know the process of adapting it in a scientific way. With awareness we can prevent it. Our job is to bring in those who are experts in this matter and bring in the relevant departments who are there, umpiring, grounds…these departments and various clubs. The support staff from different clubs, who deal with it, physio trainers, coaches, bring them all together and we give this scientific information on how to control it. I can’t quite. But if we follow these guidelines we will probably do better in terms of performance. Sickness will decrease and performance will improve.’

Dr. Debashish also said, ‘AIUB has an educational agreement with us. They will help us in some different academic training. The professor of the public health department they have was with us today. For now we did it today, it’s hard to get everyone together. There were people from different departments of BCB.’

‘The teams that we have on the cricket board, such as the national team; Their management is easy. Because they are few in number. Secondly, they get good logistic support. They have two or four special people to look after them. Overall their management is very good. But we cannot do this management at the club level. The club is not able to provide all the facilities. They have to travel, the club has to be in another maybe underdeveloped place, there is the matter of food and nutrition. We called every club’s physio and trainer. If I can educate them, they will make the team. A guideline has been given.’
