Nearly 175,000 visitors came to Brussels Expo for the 65th edition of Batibouw. The organizers reported this on Sunday, on the last day of the construction fair. In a press release they talk about “a great success, after a devastating COVID-19 crisis and a number of lesser editions”.

The construction sector has had a few difficult years due to, among other things, the corona crisis, the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, rising material costs and rising mortgage interest rates. Logically, this also had an impact on Batibouw. The post-COVID editions therefore attracted fewer exhibitors and visitors.

This year’s edition was a success, despite the fact that the construction sector remains under pressure, with a growth of only 0.2 percent in 2024, according to the construction federation Embuild. According to the CEO of organizer FISA, Joan Condijts, “this proves that direct contact with specialists and professionals remains a priority when it comes to construction and renovation decisions. Visitors can ask questions, see and touch products.”

For seven days, the fair focused on affordable housing and sustainable construction and renovation. “Despite the difficult economic conditions for the construction sector, Batibouw managed to bring together around 300 exhibitors. They offered visitors a wide range of products, innovative building materials, renewable energies, home automation and sustainable construction and furnishing solutions,” it said.
