On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Analamanga Regional Basketball League, in partnership with the Women’s Referees and Basketball Journalists (JOBA), is organizing the very first edition of the Women’s Basket Tournament. This event aims to promote and celebrate the female presence in Malagasy basketball. The tournament, which will take place in Ankatso, is open to licensed and non-licensed teams, and will feature 14 senior teams. These teams will be divided into 2 groups of three and 2 groups of four. “ Our mission within the league is to promote and popularize sport in the Analamanga region. Skills Challenge
In addition to the main tournament, the event will include the Girls U13 Skills Challenge, which will host approximately 130 girls aged under 13. This competition will allow young participants to develop their basketball skills through a series of technical challenges, including dribbling, passing and shooting. “ During the Skills Challenge, participants will be evaluated on their mastery of basic basketball techniques, with the aim of achieving the best time on the course. We have also integrated the traditional Malagasy game ‘Vitsily’ to introduce children to defense technique. Additionally, a 5×5 basketball tournament will be organized for girls born in 2011, 2012 and 2013, providing all participants with an opportunity to meet and compete on the court “, she continues.
