The relevant ministries and organizations are working in coordination to prevent the increase in commodity prices. The government is prioritizing trade diplomacy. Bangladesh will never be Sri Lanka or Venezuela.

On Friday (February 9) in the FDC of the capital, the Director General of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate A. H. M Safikuzzaman said these things. The competition is organized by Debate for Democracy. This information was informed in the press release of the department.

Director General A. H. M. Safikuzzaman said, considering the demand of the month of Ramadan, the import duty of some products has already been reduced. But it will take some time to reap the benefits at the consumer level. Necessary operations are being conducted to control commodity prices. There is no dominant pressure against market monitoring.

Explaining why Bangladesh will not become Sri Lanka, he highlighted the positive initiatives of the government. He said that currently Bangladesh is the 38th largest economy in the world. The government is emphasizing on the use of digital technology to ensure good governance in market management to ease people’s suffering. A supply chain management system has already been introduced, which will monitor the production and delivery of products. No one is stronger than the state. Our fight against unscrupulous traders will continue.

Chairman of Debate for Democracy Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiran said in the president’s speech, the rise in commodity prices is making our lives miserable. People are suffering. The middle class is suffering in silence from the price hike. Excessive profit and greed of traders is one of the reasons for the increase in commodity prices. Unscrupulous businessmen should be strictly restrained.

But for the current government, apart from controlling the price of goods, there are many other challenges including political, diplomatic, economic, financial sector, prevention of money laundering, prevention of corruption, payment of foreign debt, meeting the energy crisis and meeting the reserve deficit. Kiran feels that it is necessary to strengthen diplomatic relations in addition to building a consensus by trusting all political parties to face those challenges.

Debaters of Prime University defeated the debaters of Chittagong Mother and Child Hospital Medical College in the shadow parliament. The judge was Dr. SM Morshed, development analyst Sajid Raihan, journalist Mainul Alam, journalist Salim Malik and journalist Md. Golam Moinul Ahsan. Trophies and certificates were awarded to the winning teams at the end of the competition.
