The statement of the Prime Minister of Armenia is aimed at distracting attention from the process of the draft bilateral agreement on establishing peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Publika.az reports that this was said by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizade, in response to the views expressed by the Prime Minister of Armenia on Army Day.
“Since the beginning of the discussions on the draft agreement of the Azerbaijani side, the Armenian side in its Constitution, in a number of decisions of the legislative body, as well as in its appeals to various international courts after the 44-day Patriotic War, in its official correspondence and in its letters distributed within the framework of international organizations, has continued to claim against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. “Despite calling for an end, no practical steps have been taken by Armenia in this direction. In this regard, the fact that the Armenian side, instead of taking measures in this direction, makes proposals that have no practical significance creates misunderstanding and is unacceptable,” said A. Hajizadeh.
He noted that for 30 years, Armenia has grossly violated its obligations within the framework of international agreements and arms control mechanisms, to which our territorial integrity and sovereignty are recognized, committed aggression against Azerbaijan, illegally placed most of its military equipment and weapon systems on the territory of our country during the occupation of our territories. it is known to everyone that he is hiding from the arms control mechanisms:
“Taking into account the above, as well as Prime Minister Pashinyan’s statement that his country has a serious militarization policy, several billion dollar arms supply contracts have been signed in recent years, and it has developed the military industry, it is political manipulation to claim that Armenia is serious about the peace process. Biased statements like this it is an obstacle to the future development and progress of the region based on respect for the norms and principles of international law.
“Azerbaijan, in turn, will continue its peace and construction efforts and expects Armenia to take adequate steps not only in words but also in deeds.”
It should be noted that on January 28, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during his speech on Army Day, said that they proposed to Azerbaijan to sign a mutual arms control mechanism, as well as a non-aggression pact.
