Narayanganj Metropolitan Awami League President Anwar Hossain has been declared unwanted by District Awami League Senior Vice President and City Mayor Dr. Selina Hyatt Ivy. He has been declared undesirable based on the announcement of the committee of 17 wards of the metropolitan Awami League without evaluating the tyagi leaders and activists.
In the same incident, the deposed leaders and activists of Ward No. 16 locked the Awami League office in the city. They gave various slogans declaring the president of the metropolis Anwar Hossain as undesirable.
On Friday (February 16) around 8:00 p.m., the deportees locked the gate of the metropolitan Awami League office located in the railway gate number two area of the city.
According to activists and party sources, under the leadership of Sabbir Ahmed Sagar, general secretary of Ward No. 16, the disqualified people locked the party office. They chanted that the declared ward committee is fake. He claimed that the deserving have been deprived.
Regarding the locking of the office, the former president of Ward No. 16 of Metropolitan Awami League, Manowar Hossain Mana, said that recently the leaders and activists declared rebellion against the declared committee of Ward No. 16 and declared Metropolitan President Anwar Hossain undesirable. He also locked the office.
Earlier in the afternoon, City Mayor and District Awami League Senior Vice President Dr. Selina Hyatt expressed outrage over the Ivy Committee announcement. Besides, Awami League president declared Anwar undesirable.
In the meeting, Mayor Ivy said, ‘Our younger brothers Epon and Chanchal were made leaders in this ward. They are qualified to be leaders though. But Anwar Kaka (Metropolitan Awami League President) gave this committee with the spirit of revenge. He explained that whatever you want will happen here. He dishonored the ancestors who led the Awami League. I stand here today and declare him undesirable as a man of deobhog.’
The mayor warned of a counter committee and said, ‘No committee has been formed in 9 wards of Siddhirganj area. Because it is MP Shamim Osman’s area, he said he will form a committee in his area. So I want to say, 27 wards of my constituency; In which right did you give the committee in 17 wards without informing me? I will give counter committee in 17 wards. They brought people from one ward and put them in another ward. These are child’s play or not? I never bothered about the team. I have to today. I can’t say like Shamim bhai, you can’t do it in my area. But if you make the committee without taking my opinion, disrespect the seniors; Then I will give a counter committee.’
Committee of 17 wards of Metropolitan Awami League was announced last February 12 night. Metropolitan Awami League President Anwar Hossain and General Secretary Khokon Saha approved this committee. Since then, party leaders and workers at various levels were angry. Many people have complained that controversial people have been kept in the committee, excluding party leaders and activists.
Rajakarputra, the son of a freedom fighter killer, has been given the post of President-General Secretary in the Ward Committee, said Humayun Kabir Mridha, Youth and Sports Affairs Secretary of the Metropolitan Awami League. He said that the Rajakarputra and even the son of the freedom fighter killer were given the top post by depriving the martyrs. We do not accept this committee.
In this regard, General Secretary of Metropolitan Awami League Khokon Saha said, ‘The President has been declared undesirable. But no one has the right to lock the office. I request those who did this to open the lock.
Awami League President Anwar Hossain was called several times to inquire about this, but he did not receive.
