At least 12 dead in massive wave of Russian attacks on Ukraine

A wave of Russian attacks with drones and missiles, the most massive in recent months, has caused at least twelve deaths, numerous injuries and damage in various parts of Ukraine, including the capital, Kiev, and the country’s largest urban centers.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated today that Moscow’s forces launched about 110 missiles against Ukrainian territory, but assured that most of them have been shot down.

Missile rain on kyiv

Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuri Ihnat said in televised statements that there had not been such a barrage of Russian missiles “in a long time.”

“The enemy launched a massive blow using various air attack assets. In fact, it launched everything except Kalibr (missiles). There were Kinzhal (missiles), ballistic missiles, S-300, cruise missiles,” he said.

For his part, the mayor of kyiv, Vitali Klitschkó, ​​announced that two civilians have died and four have been rescued under the rubble of a warehouse in which fragments of a projectile have hit, and that there are still people missing.

Klitschkó had warned around 6:30 in the morning (4:30 GMT), through his Telegram channel, that explosions were heard in the capital, instructing citizens to seek shelter.

The Kiev mayor also reported damage to the Lukyanivska metro station, as well as to the aforementioned warehouse where a fire broke out.

The number of injured rises to 17, seven of whom have been hospitalized.

A dozen drones against Lviv

In Lviv, a missile hit an apartment block killed one person and injured three others, according to the head of the regional military administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.

The mayor of that city announced that more than a dozen Shahed-type kamikaze drones were launched against the border region with Poland.

In Kharkiv (northeast) the authorities reported the death of a civilian – a 35-year-old man – and 11 injuries.

In addition, warehouses and industrial facilities, a transport vehicle depot, a medical center and an ambulance, among other infrastructure, have suffered damage.

“Tragic morning” in central Ukraine

In the Dnipropetrovsk region (center), the head of the military administration, Sergey Lysak, spoke of a “tragic morning” in which Russian rockets hit “almost a dozen people and five were killed.”

In the provincial capital of Dnipro, a projectile hit a shopping center, where it caused a fire and caused damage to a mother and child hospital.

In Odessa (south), the authorities have so far recorded two deaths and 15 civilians hospitalized, including two children aged six and eight who were injured in missile attacks against apartment buildings.
