The formal “opposition” in the Metropolitan Municipal Council (SOS) for the second time distributed its influence in the committees to it. GERB, BSP and the smaller formations in the council again demonstrated unity and pushed the winners of the elections “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB) and “Save Sofia” into opposition.
On Thursday, the municipal councilors voted for the second time on the allocation of committees to the SOS, as well as the election of council vice-presidents. This happened after last week the regional governor Vyara Todeva returned the first decision on the subject due to “substantial procedural violations”. The distribution of the committees in question was voted on at a midnight meeting two weeks ago, and thus practically took over the SOS from within. The decision was reached hours after these same formations voted together with PP-DB and “Save Sofia” for the election of Tsvetomir Petrov as chairman of the municipal council.
GERB and BSP took the most commissions
After the re-election, GERB, who governed Sofia for 18 years and lost the last elections, now have chairmen of 5 commissions. Among them, two of the most important – finance and economy.
BSP received 4 chairmanships, and among them are that of the leader of the group Ivan Takov as chairman of the transport committee and of Vanya Grigorova as chairman of the health care committee.
The municipal councilors who broke away from “Vazrazhdane” two weeks ago received as many as two commissions. Sevdelina Petrova topped the one in architecture. Petrova is a partner with the former mayor of “Lozenets” from GERB Lubomir Drekov in the company “Bautek-GB”, according to a reference in the Commercial Register. The other representative of the separatists, who received a leadership position, is Krasimir Galabov, who headed the committee on ecology.

PP-DB and “Save Sofia” were left with two chairmanships, and those on less important committees. They do not have a majority in any of the committees through which the decisions pass before entering for a final vote in the hall.
Before approving the apparently agreed preliminary distribution of the commissions, GERB, BSP and the smaller formations predictably rejected the distribution proposed by the winners PP-DB and “Save Sofia”. According to him, the formation should have received 5 chairmanships, including those of the committees on architecture, finance and ecology.
“Well done for the organization”
“You really showed us how it’s done. Kudos to the organization. This is how the vote of the voters is captured. You made a strong municipal group”, commented Bonka Vasileva from PP-DB and “Save Sofia”, who according to the proposal of the “opposition” should have been the chairman of the commission on conflict of interests. However, she withdrew and the seat was given to the chairman of the GERB group, Anton Hekimyan.
Before that, the municipal councilors voted for the second time and the deputy chairmen of the SOS, as this decision was also returned by the regional governor. Boyko Dimitrov from PP-DB and “Save Sofia”, Georgi Georgiev from GERB, Diana Tonova from BSP, Vili Lilkov from “Sinya Sofia” and Sevdelina Petrova from the breakaways from “Vazrazhdane” were elected again.
Extraordinary for the remediation
Mayor Vasil Terziev’s proposal to vote on a report necessary for the participation of the Capital Municipality in the state rehabilitation program was rejected. The rationale was that it should be considered by the council’s committees, which are yet to begin work. The decision in question will be considered at an extraordinary meeting next Tuesday, February 27. The deadline to apply for the program is February 29.

However, we as a municipal administration will find a solution for the financing for the renovation of buildings .
