Armenian nationalists fear that Trump, who remained “silent” in the Karabakh war in 2020, will be re-elected as president. Unlike Biden, Trump has a more anti-Iran stance. If he is elected, then there will be a US-Armenia alliance against Iran, in which case Tehran will not tolerate Yerevan. In this situation, Armenia can escalate to bring its new “bosses” to the region and gain a “security umbrella”. They can do this on the eve of the so-called “genocide”, the article states.
