Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, said that the House Finance Committee approved the proposal of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, to impose a tax on foreign exchange temporarily. To ensure exchange rate stability.
Saleh confirmed, in an interview with Libya Al-Mustaqbal Channel, that the decision will be issued soon with the possibility of amending it at any time, indicating the possibility of canceling or amending this tax in the future.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives added that some merchants receive dollar credits without supplying goods, in addition to the rise in the value of the dollar, which approached 8 dinars in the parallel market, pointing out that the great friend and some specialists informed them that if a certain tax is not imposed, the value of the dinar will decrease against the dollar and may reach To 13 dinars. By imposing this tax, the exchange rate will stabilize.
Aqila added that state-subsidized goods will not be affected by this amendment, and that it will ensure that dollars are pumped to all banks, while giving a deadline until the end of the current year, and that the surplus from the sale of the currency will be used to pay the public debt, according to him.
Aqeela stated that they can amend this decision at any time, and the situation will remain under monitoring and follow-up.
