For the upcoming ones European electionsbut also our political system, its president spoke PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis.

Nikos Androulakis estimated that “the issue is for Europe to unite more and gain self-reliance in matters of security and defense. So that the Greek people don’t feel insecure about Turkey and know that, if something happens, the European army and the unified foreign policy will be deterrent weapons.”

“Therefore”, he added, “citizens would do well to support parties that want European integration to happen faster and in many fields, not only in the economy”.

At the same time, he emphasized that “we are in an era where the rich are getting richer and inequalities are increasing. Advanced democratic states do not have the money, but authoritarian regimes. A collective spirit is needed again, so that at the center of politics is man, his rights, health, education”.

He then referred to the resolution of the European Parliament on the weakening of the rule of law in our country, emphasizing the tragedy of Tempe and the wiretapping scandal.

“The European Parliament resolution proves that MEPs of all political stripes are calling for pressure to be put on Greece to change course. Because Europe has some values: respect for human rights, the rule of law and the separation of powers. When in democratic Greece there are some who violate them, will the European Parliament turn a blind eye so that Mr. Dimitriadis or Mr. Karamanlis does not pay? I will fight for those responsible to be revealed.”

“Nepotism, opacity and bribery still prevail. In other words, what brought us to the memorandums lives and reigns even after the memorandums”, underlined the president of PASOK-KINAL speaking to CRETATV.

“My anxiety is to change the political system, that’s why I’m changing and renewing PASOK and I don’t accept clientelistic attitudes. The parties must finally become healthy organizations, cells of democracy”, he added.

Regarding his personal goals in the political scene, Nikos Androulakis explained: “Everyone is talking about development and today we have reached the point where the property of the Greek people is being sold off to rich foreigners. For me, this is not development, but underdevelopment.”

“Everybody’s talking about democracy,” he said, then added: “Is it democracy to have this crime in Tempe and have the parents of the children come here and instead of the government apologizing, attack the parents? For me these must change and I want the political power to do so. I will not disappoint the Greek people, firstly, because I deeply believe in what I want to do and, secondly, because I do not aspire to create a new ‘governmental imperium’. I don’t care and find it destructive. Those who do are dangerous.”

Asked to comment on the government’s recent decision for a two-month “lockout” of Super League stadiums, the president of PASOK-KINAL estimated that it did not bring about any change, repeating his proposal for a “lifetime ban for anyone involved in any incident of fan violence . If this is imposed on hooligans, the message will be that children should not follow these gangs because they will lose the opportunity and the joy of seeing their favorite team again.”

“How can the citizen feel safe, when he sees the state allowing hooligans to cross the Balkans and murder in the center of Athens, or when there are gangs that are beaten under the tolerance of sports players and the state itself? We have passed laws so many times, but they are not implemented,” he pointed out.
