President Andrés Manuel López Obrador described as “very good, very good” the fact that last night the Chamber of Deputies endorsed the creation of the Pension Fund, as he stated that it is to benefit millions of workers.
Last night, with the vote of Morena, PT and the Green Party, the Chamber of Deputies approved the plan for the federal government to obtain 40 billion pesos from the Afores of workers over 70 years of age who have not been claimed.
In a press conference at the National Palace, the federal president pointed out that this reform is to correct the grievance caused in the neoliberal period where, he accused, workers were sought to not receive their full salary at the time of retirement.
“It was good, very good, it is an issue to benefit millions of workers, this reform is to correct a grievance, a damage caused in the neoliberal period, because in the neoliberal period, as in the Calderón government period, the Constitution so that workers would not receive their full salary at the time of retirement, to correct that is this law that the deputies approved.”
President López Obrador accused that those who do not like the approval of this Pension Fund are those who at that time approved the pension reforms in the governments of Ernesto Zedillo and Felipe Calderón.
He assured that there is a campaign against this reform saying that the government will steal pensions, something he rejected.
