His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health and President of the Bahrain Diabetes Association, confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the first countries to pay great attention to confronting non-communicable diseases and limiting their spread, especially diabetes, endocrine diseases and obesity, by developing plans. Which enhances health awareness in the community, and implements early detection and integrated health care programs with the participation of all governmental and private institutions within the concept of partnership in community health.

This came when His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, opened the sixth edition of the Bahrain Diabetes and Endocrine Conference, which began this morning at the Gulf Hotel, in the presence of a number of officials and participants in the conference. His Excellency also opened the exhibition accompanying the conference, which witnesses Participation of many entities specialized in diabetes and endocrinology, and presentation of the latest pharmaceutical and technological developments in diagnosing and treating the disease.

His Excellency pointed to the strategic objectives of the National Plan to Combat Chronic Diseases and Diabetes, which seeks to limit the spread of the disease and reduce the health and economic impacts resulting from it, by implementing preventive and curative initiatives and providing advanced health services, which fall under this plan.

For his part, Dr. Wiam Hussein, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Diabetes and Endocrinology Consultant Conference, said that this conference supports national plans to combat diabetes, endocrine diseases, and related diseases, by exchanging discussions during it on the importance of continuous updating of the best methods of diagnosis and treatment, and encouraging the adoption of plans and campaigns. Awareness of citizens, with the aim of reducing the increasing infection rates.

The conference president indicated that the conference will include 24 working sessions, in which a large number of academics and students from the faculties of medicine at the Arabian Gulf University and the Royal Irish College of Surgeons will participate. The conference will also witness broad participation by presenters of working papers from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and a number of Arab and European countries.
