His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the regular weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers, which was held today, at Gudaibiya Palace.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Council of Ministers praised the directive of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, to transfer all budgets allocated by the official authorities for celebrations on the occasion of the silver jubilee of His Majesty the King assuming the reins of power to charitable associations and funds, through The Royal Foundation for Humanitarian Work, commending the Council for the ongoing humanitarian initiatives of His Majesty the King of the country, may God protect him, and His Majesty’s great support for charitable and humanitarian work and everything that would enhance the values and principles of solidarity, integration, cooperation and community partnership.
After that, the Council congratulated the pilgrims of the Kingdom of Bahrain on their safe return to the Kingdom of Bahrain after performing the Hajj rituals, asking God Almighty to accept their good deeds and for their Hajj to be an accepted Hajj. The Council praised the efforts made by the mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the comfort and safety of the pilgrims of the Kingdom, and expressed its appreciation at the time. He expressed his thanks to the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the initiatives and efforts it provides every year for the pilgrims to perform their Hajj with ease and safety, congratulating the sister Kingdom on the great success achieved by this year’s Hajj season.
After that, His Excellency the Minister of the Interior briefed the Council of Ministers on the latest developments in the work of the committee formed to review all cases of acquiring Bahraini nationality as of 2010, which was formed after the results of the investigations and reviews carried out by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs of those holding Bahraini nationality, through which it was revealed that there are People who obtained Bahraini citizenship in violation of the law.
His Excellency stated to the Council that one of the reasons for forming the committee was the proven cases of people who provided incorrect or forged information or documents to acquire citizenship, or who misused citizenship or harmed the interests of the Kingdom and its societal security, as well as everyone who violated the requirements for the continuity of obtaining citizenship. He added that the process of review and evaluation of cases is continuing. According to the procedures, which is linked to the committee’s work progress and results.
The Council then praised the efforts made during Eid al-Adha by various government agencies to maintain public security and safety, and to provide various vital services throughout the Eid period.
The Council also followed up on efforts to deal with the fire that occurred in residential buildings and commercial stores in the old Manama Market, in light of the report submitted to the Council by His Excellency the Minister of Interior, where the Council noted the professional handling of the Civil Defense with this fire and various incidents. Thanks in advance to the Civil Defense personnel, various employees of the Ministry of Interior, and relevant authorities for their efforts in dealing with the fire in the old Manama Market.
The Council noted the efforts of the Ministry of Interior and the concerned authorities and their effective contributions to combating drugs and adopting initiatives that contribute to raising community awareness of their dangers and protecting against them, on the occasion of World Anti-Drug Day.
The Council praised the generosity of Bahraini women, their rich history of achievements in the field of diplomatic work, and their distinguished contributions in supporting the Kingdom’s diplomatic efforts, on the occasion of International Women’s Day in Diplomatic Work.
The Council then agreed to amend the periodicity of the regular meetings of the Council of Ministers during the months of July and August 2024 to be once every two weeks.
Subsequently, the Council approved the following memorandums:
1- Memorandum by His Excellency the Minister of Labor regarding developing mechanisms for implementing the decision to ban working under direct sunlight and in open spaces for the year 2024.
2- A memorandum from the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the government’s response to 3 willing proposals submitted by the House of Representatives, and a proposal for a law submitted by the Shura Council.
3- Memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the memorandum of understanding between the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.
4- Memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding (3) memorandums of understanding between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt in a number of fields.
5- Memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a cooperation agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Republic of Hungary regarding the provision of the “Stependium Hungaricum” scholarship, and a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Hungary for cooperation within the framework of the “Stependium Hungaricum” program for the years 2024. – 2027.
6- Memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the memorandum of understanding between the General Sports Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry of Sports and Tourism in the Republic of Belarus regarding cooperation in the sports field.
7- Memorandum by His Excellency the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Education and Training Quality Authority regarding the results of the national examinations for the ninth and twelfth grades for the year 2024.
After that, the Council reviewed the memorandum of His Excellency the Minister of Shura and Representative Council Affairs regarding the work of the second regular session of the sixth legislative term.
The Council then took note, through ministerial reports, of the following:
1. The official visit of His Excellency the Minister of the Interior to the Republic of France.
2. Results of participation in the work of the 112th session of the International Labor Conference.
3. Participation in the third high-level international conference “Water for Sustainable Development”.
