Days after the attack on a concert hall near Moscow, which led to the deaths of at least 144 people, Russian news agencies quoted the Counter-Terrorism Committee as saying that Russia carried out an anti-terrorism operation in southern Dagestan on Sunday morning and arrested 3 people.

Russia was placed on high alert after a mass shooting at a Moscow concert hall on March 22, the country’s deadliest attack in 20 years, killing at least 144 people.

The committee said today that the security services arrested 3 “bandits who were planning a number of terrorist crimes, and by searching places where the criminals were detained, automatic weapons, ammunition and an explosive device were found ready for use,” according to Reuters.

Earlier, the committee reported that security services arrested suspected criminals in separate apartments in residential areas in the regional capital, Makhachkala, and the city of Kaspiysk, one of the largest cities in the Russian Federation.

There were no injuries or losses among civilians or security forces.

This comes about 10 days after a bloody attack carried out by gunmen last Friday, when they attacked a concert hall on the outskirts of the Russian capital, opened fire on spectators, and started a massive fire. This attack, which was claimed by ISIS, led to the death of at least 144 people and the injury of 360 others, including children.

Meanwhile, the authorities announced the arrest of 11 people, including the four suspected attackers. 8 of them were charged and remanded in custody.
