Passenger traffic at Bahrain International Airport continued to recover over the past two years, after two difficult years witnessed by travel traffic, as airlines in the region were able to restore most of the activity to before the “Covid-19” pandemic.
According to figures collected by Albilad, passenger traffic through Bahrain International Airport increased by 11% in the first quarter of this year, with the number of new destinations increasing and Bahrain hosting a number of events and events, including Formula 1 races.
In detail, Bahrain International Airport (BIA) witnessed a total passenger movement of 2,312,786 passengers in the first quarter of 2024, compared to 2,082,453 in the same period last year.
The number of arrivals reached approximately 1,169,145 passengers in the first quarter of 2024, compared to 1,054,642 passengers in the first quarter of 2023.
The number of departures reached 1,143,635 passengers in the first quarter of 2024, compared to 1,027,811 passengers in the first quarter of 2023.
The number of flights witnessed a slight increase by 6%, reaching 1,211,114 flights in the first quarter of 2024, compared to 1,140,946 flights in the first quarter of 2023.
Aircraft movement in the airspace witnessed an increase of 9%, reaching 24,309 aircraft in the first quarter of 2024, compared to 22,198 aircraft in the first quarter of 2023.
The movement of goods and mail witnessed an increase of 5%, reaching 104,078 tons in the first quarter of 2024, compared to 99,707 tons in the first quarter of 2023.
The movement of incoming goods and mail increased by 10% in the first quarter to reach 39,717 tons, while approximately 23,980 tons were exported, an increase of 15%, and 40,381 tons were reshipped, an increase of 24%.
