She continued, “As for the medicines that expire, most of them are concentrated on some emergency medicines that must be present until the last day of their expiration due to the sensitivity of the availability of these medicines and the lack of an alternative to them, in addition to baxlovid, which was recently introduced to treat the symptoms of infection with the Corona virus Covid 19, and which had to be provided.” However, the demand for it by reviewers was very weak.
She confirmed that no errors were detected in giving medication to any patient, and what was monitored during 2023 was that medications were dispensed in the patient’s name to the ward with an identification card on only one box, and the rest of the boxes were the same for the patient without a card and of the same type, and they were not detected being given by mistake. To avoid a recurrence of this disbursement in this way, the procedures in the relevant department were modified. Reports consider this type of monitoring to be the so-called monitoring of procedures that may lead to a potential error (near miss).
She explained that medications are dispensed to patients through the specialized medical team affiliated with the consultant in the health system, and the name of the consultant appears on all dispensed prescriptions only.
