The President of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Samir Nass, said that the free trade agreement between the Gulf states and India is in the process of discussions, expressing his hope that it will see the light very soon, stressing that the repercussions of this agreement on the Kingdom of Bahrain are very positive.

Nass added, on the sidelines of the meeting with the delegation of the Indian Economic Trade Organization, yesterday, Sunday, that Bahrain welcomes any possible opportunity to enhance foreign investments with any of the potential partners.

He continued: “The present delegation to the Kingdom came through the Bahraini Indian Society. We in the chamber receive them as they serve the economic sector, and we have cooperation with all economic and relevant associations in Bahrain.”

He added that it is not unlikely that India will be the largest economic power in the world in the coming years, noting that the relations between Bahrain and India in economic terms are very deep.

He explained: “India is considered one of the great countries in terms of labor force and technology, and they have reached very advanced stages in these fields, and we may see the Indian economy competing with the Chinese, American, or even Japanese and European economies.”

Nass said: “We do not rule out that India will be the largest economic power in the world in the coming years. We have expected for more than 20 years India’s superiority and the growth it is experiencing.”

People praised the great role of the Indian community in Bahrain, whether through participation in the national economy, investments or employment, as Indian labor played a major role in almost all economic sectors.

He continued by saying: “We are trying to promote Bahrain as an investment destination, and we hope that these investments will be specific, help with great technological transformation and progress in the Kingdom, and that we will benefit from them in creating good and decent jobs for Bahraini youth.” He added: “All we want is for them to bring their money.” To invest in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Regarding the interest in investing in the food security sectors, Nass said: “Food security is the topic of the hour for all Gulf countries and Arab countries, especially after the Corona pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war, where everyone has become afraid of the lack of food availability, either due to the interruption of supplies due to the interruption of ships or other things.” Caused by war or pandemic.”

He pointed out that the food security sector needs development, whether in agriculture, animal production, fish farming, etc.

He explained that technology now can overcome many obstacles. Water scarcity, for example, in the Kingdom of Bahrain, can be solved through modern irrigation methods that use only 10% of previous amounts of water, and so on from other obstacles.

He concluded by saying: “I hope that there will be Arab integration in the field of food security among all Arab countries.”
