The French star did not succeed in imposing himself during the two matches against Borussia Dortmund, and he appeared disappointing the hopes of the Paris fans who hoped to reach the final of the tournament, in Mbappe’s last season in the French capital.
L’Equipe’s cruelty
L’Equipe newspaper harshly criticized Mbappe, and in its evaluation of the players, it gave him a score of 2 out of 10, which is the lowest score given in the match.
The newspaper commented on Mbappe’s performance: “His last match with Paris in the Champions League seemed like a nightmare.”
She added harshly: “The striker was neutralized on the left side, and he was, for a long time, incredibly fragile technically. German defender Mats Hummels dominated him in the match.”
She continued: “He made a mistake in his shot from close range (36th minute) and missed an opportunity to hit the crossbar (86th minute). His threat was limited. His performance was ‘very poor’ for a player competing for the Golden Ball award.”
Mbappe was joined in the evaluation by his colleague Ousmane Dembélé, whom the newspaper gave 2 out of 10, describing as “chaotic and disappointing” during the match.
