Israeli media reported, on Tuesday, that Israel had submitted to Qatar, Egypt and the United States its written and “updated” proposal regarding the truce deal in Gaza and the exchange of hostages and prisoners.

The “Wala” website said that the proposal includes “being flexible” regarding the number of living hostages who will be released in the first phase, in addition to being prepared to discuss Hamas’s request for a “permanent cessation of fighting” in the Gaza Strip.

This request was the stumbling block in all previous rounds of negotiations, as Israel insists on resuming the war until Hamas is eliminated.

According to the source, the Qatari mediator is expected to meet with Hamas representatives in Doha on Tuesday and convey to them the details of the proposal.

More than 7 months after the outbreak of war in Gaza, the mediators are making unremitting efforts to achieve a breakthrough.

The written proposal was detailed and expanded on the general principles presented by Mossad Chief David Barnea to Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, during the meeting held in Paris on Friday.

Israel seeks to release hostages held by Hamas, while the movement seeks to release Palestinian prisoners held by Israel and end the war permanently.

The fighting in Gaza continues despite the mediation and the order issued by the judges of the International Court of Justice to Israel on Friday to immediately stop its military attack on Rafah.

Israel says it is carrying out operations in Rafah to eliminate Hamas brigades holed up there. It also confirms that some hostages are also being held there and wants to rescue them, but its attack has exacerbated the plight of Palestinian civilians and sparked widespread international outrage.
