Mrs. Hala Ramzi Fayez, member of the Shura Council and member of the delegation of the Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain participating in the work of the 148th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, said that the Kingdom of Bahrain believes that ethnic, religious and cultural pluralism is a factor of strength for society and a prominent sign of societal development in all fields, stressing that sects The various groups in the Kingdom of Bahraini all enjoy complete freedom without discrimination, and practice their religious rituals in mosques, churches, and temples.

This came during Ms. Hala Ramzi’s participation in a panel discussion on “Protecting Minority Rights: Towards Comprehensive Legislation to Combat Discrimination,” which was held today (Tuesday) within the framework of the work of the 148th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is being held in the city of Geneva in the Swiss Confederation.

Ramzi explained that the legislative authority is keen to enact laws and legislation that prohibit discrimination and promote human rights in various fields, in addition to participating in all international parliamentary forums concerned with combating discrimination to exchange experiences and knowledge with other parliaments.

Ramzi stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain pays attention to combating discrimination and promoting and protecting human rights in a way that contributes to achieving societal stability, by promoting and protecting the rights of any person belonging to national or ethnic minorities and to religious and linguistic minorities, as they are important components for maintaining the peace and stability of society.

Ramzi pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain has a distinguished record and is full of achievements in terms of rejecting all forms of racial discrimination, consolidating the values ​​of tolerance and peaceful coexistence prevailing among all components of Bahraini society, and spreading the culture of respecting others, rejecting violence, and combating intolerance in all its forms, stressing that Bahrain is considered a model of coexistence. Harmony among followers of different religions, sects and cultures thanks to the atmosphere of freedom and openness that characterizes Bahrain.
