The Professional Fishermen’s Association extended its highest thanks and gratitude to the King of the country, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, regarding the directives of His Majesty regarding the establishment of controls for the development and protection of fish wealth and the continuation of the fish farming process in a way that meets the requirements and needs of the local market, expressing its thanks also to the Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Rashid. Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, who stated that the process of regulating hunting brings goodness to the people of Bahrain.

The association stressed the need to translate the directives of His Majesty the King into reality, especially by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture and the Agency for Agriculture and Marine Resources.
For his part, Vice President of the Bahraini Fishermen’s Association, Abdul Amir Al-Mughni, said that determining fishing licenses is an important point, pointing out that their numbers have become very large and the sea area in Bahrain’s territorial waters is limited.
He stated that the association presented many views regarding sea reform, most notably reducing the number of fishing licenses by half, reducing the number of boats and tools used, in addition to withdrawing any license for workers in the government and private sectors who have a fixed job by compensating them, and restricting the fishing profession to only professional sailors who are considered a profession. Hunting is their only job.
He called for action to stop marine violations committed by Asian workers, and some prohibited uses of fishing, such as marine trawling, which greatly destroy the marine environment.
