An Asian man was able to convince a young woman of his ability to provide her with a job opportunity in Bahrain in the field of caring for children and the elderly, but he prevented her from coming to the country, detained her freedom, and forced her to work in the field of prostitution.
Details indicate that the Asian victim (27 years old) came to the country to work in the field of caring for children and the elderly after she agreed with the accused on this, and based on the agreement, he issued her a travel ticket and a visit visa to come to the country.
Immediately upon the victim’s arrival at the airport, the accused (47 years old) received her and took her to his residence, took her passport from her, and detained her freedom.
After 4 days of her stay in his residence, the accused told her that there were no job opportunities in the agreed upon field and that she had to work in the field of prostitution in order to pay the costs of her coming to the country. He then transferred her to several hotels over a period of two days and forced her to work in the field of prostitution with clients in exchange for sums of money that he obtained. Days after her detention, The police were able to rescue the detained victim.
Accordingly, the Public Prosecution charged the accused with trafficking the victim by means of coercion, threats, trickery, and deprivation of freedom for the purpose of misusing her in prostitution.
The victim reported in the Public Prosecution’s investigations that the accused had been assaulting her throughout her detention.
For its part, the First High Criminal Court set a session for May 12 to consider the case.
