The president’s meeting ended, Javier Mileyand the American Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken and both came out to greet from the balcony of the Casa Rosada. The President and his cabinet held a meeting of just over an hour and a quarter with the head of American diplomacy and his entourage in the Eva Perón room.
The US representative arrived in the country surrounded by a large delegation to strengthen bilateral relations. One of the most important issues for the Government is the renegotiation of the agreement with the IMF. The official is interested in the geopolitical link between the countries in the region with China and Russia, and his position regarding the war in Israel.
Milei’s message to the United States
Before starting the meeting and when asked by the press what message he wanted to send to the United States, Milei said that “Argentina has decided to return to the side of the West, to the side of progress, to the side of democracy and, above all things, next to freedom.”
Blinken arrived accompanied by the ambassador to Argentina, Marc Stanley; the assistant secretary for the Western Hemisphere, Brian Nichols; the deputy chief of staff of the Secretary, Thomas Sullivan; to the Deputy Spokesperson of the Secretary, Vedant Patel; and to the political advisor, Robert Allison.
Blinken’s tour will last less than a day, and comes amid controversy over the deepening of the alliance of the president of Brazil, Lula da Silva with China and Russia, and its stance against Israel in the war against Hamas (days ago, the leader of the Workers’ Party compared the Israeli authorities to those of Nazi Germany for its offensive in Gaza against the terrorist group).
