Gina, 59, from Tuindorp Oostzaan, has been missing an external wall for six weeks. On December 8 last year, a driver drove straight into her house. The multi-disabled Gina was at home but she was not injured. However, she has been in trouble ever since.
Large wooden plaques now hang where there was a large hole in the wall. Six weeks after the accident not a single brick had been laid. The building association Eigen Haard says that it is difficult to find the right and suitable bricks and structures. And so it is not yet clear when the repair work will be able to begin.

“It’s been six weeks. And now he’s still in this mess,” says neighbor Annie, who is visiting Gina. “Look, if Gina had been a grown woman with power, I would have said ‘you can handle yourself’. But she can’t handle herself. Now I support her in a lot of things.”
Mice
Gina is really a little hard to talk to, but she hasn’t lost her mind. Her bench is against the temporary wooden exterior wall. “They would put a wall in my house so I wouldn’t see it so bad.” But this did not happen. The wooden wall has been filled with polyurethane foam and the radiator is now higher, just above the sofa. Gina was never cold. There are problems with mice, they come quite easily now. “Yes, I drank six.” She has twelve mousetraps in her house.

There is also her friend Ingrid. “I just think it’s scandalous. Even a housing association has a duty of care. And they don’t do anything about it. I just think it’s very sad. So much time passes. I think it should just be prioritised.”
But yes, find the right stones and frames first, says Eigen Haard. The housing association says it has offered Gina alternative accommodation. Annie: “Eigen Haard said that she can leave for a while, but then she would have to leave for three months. That’s not possible, an invalid person. You can’t throw him out.”
Not even a flower
Annie is also not happy with the driver who caused everything. “Couldn’t that lady who was walking around the house pay attention to that woman? This is the worst thing in my opinion: she didn’t say anything at all. Even if she had only brought a basket of fruit or some flowers, or a note in the letterbox. So she would have been happy with that girl. I think it’s a shame.”
Gina turns 60 on February 8, exactly two months after the accident. but she fears a house party is out of the question. “It’s very short notice.”
