After the eight-day holiday on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr and Bengali New Year, the country’s only quadrilateral Banglabandha land port has become busy again.

Import and export of goods from India, Nepal and Bhutan started at the port from Monday (April 15) morning.

According to port sources, the import and export of Banglabandha land port was closed for eight consecutive days from April 8. This decision was taken jointly by the leaders of India’s Phulbari Exporter Importer and Welfare Association with the Import Exporter Group of the port.

Kudrat-e-Khuda Milon, General Secretary of Land Port Import and Export Group, said that the operations of the land port were closed for eight days through discussions with various organizations including businessmen of both countries.

Banglabandha land port manager Abul Kalam Azad told Jago News that various types of goods from India, Bhutan and Nepal are imported and exported with Bangladesh through the country’s only quadrilateral land port. After the Eid and Bengali New Year holidays, the activities started again from Monday morning.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Landport Immigration Checkpost (IPC) Amrit Adhikari said that the import-export of the landport was closed on the occasion of Eid and New Year. However, at this time, the Bangladesh-India passport holders’ travel through the immigration check post was normal.
