Former Ulster Rugby Club winger Ross Adair has been announced by Ireland Cricket in the T20 World Cup squad. Mark Adair, who is two years younger than him, is in this group of 15.

Adair was called up to the Ireland squad for the first time in December 2022. The 30-year-old Northern Knights all-rounder made his T20 International debut against Zimbabwe in January last year. And with this format, he played the last international match in July last year against Austria.

Ross also scored in his only senior match for Ulster in 2015. Now it’s his turn to prove himself in the World Cup.

Ross’ younger brother Mark is quite experienced. The Irish pacer has played 77 T20s. As expected, he got a place in Einrich Malan’s 14-man squad. Although he was not in the World Cup a year and a half ago. Two more who did not play last season are in this year’s squad – keeper batter Neil Rock and leg spinner Ben White. Simi Singh, Stephen Doheny, Fionn Hand and Conor Wolfert have been dropped from the team that surprised West Indies and England on the world stage last year.

Paul Stirling will lead the team. Josh Little, who is currently playing in the IPL for Gujarat Titans, will join the World Cup squad after the season.

Ireland, ranked 11th in the T20I rankings, will play against Pakistan, India, Canada and USA in Group ‘A’ matches.

Ireland World Cup Squad: Paul Stirling (captain), Mark Adair, Ross Adair, Andrew Balbirnie, Curtis Kampfer, Gareth Delaney, George Dockrell, Graham Hume, Josh Little, Barry McCarthy, Neil Rock, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Ben White, Craig Young.
