Abu Shakra added in an interview with the Libyan newspaper Al-Anbaa: Libyan basketball has a beautiful future and has a golden generation, and this generation is distributed among the clubs of the East and the clubs of the West alike.
He continued: I thank the Libyan Basketball Federation for giving us the opportunity in the training and preparation camps in the East and West, because this responsibility is greater than the technical responsibility, it is the responsibility of the nation.
Regarding his coronation with the Libyan teams, Abu Chakra said: “The coronation was for the players and the fans, who regained their confidence in the game. For almost 20 years, Al-Ittihad was far from coronation, but thanks to God, with trust, love, daily work, and commitment to goals, we were able to achieve the cup title.
“Abu Shakra” stressed that his presence in the national team will speed up the path for Libyan basketball and progress at a faster pace, explaining that this is our responsibility and we will work on it with the technical staff, as the fewer the number, the greater the responsibility will be for the players inside.
He said: As a coach, I want to focus on technical matters. For example, I want to join the positions of playmaker and wingers and how they play within the requirements of the Football Association, where the player is under 18 years old and the team is small, because the Libyan team plays in a very good defensive manner, and we have good skills, so we have respect. Everyone, but we are not afraid of anyone. We are at the beginning of the road, as we have been away for some time from participating in the strong Arab and African leagues.
He concluded: Today, the national team is drawing steps that will be difficult at first, but it will be worthy of the special challenges of these difficulties. It is expected that the road will be difficult, but for it we only want to prepare and equip the players for these challenges. We are there for these beautiful fans. Without the fans, there would be no basketball in Libya.
