In the eighth round of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL), two rivals Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club came to a test of strength. However, Abahani has had the last laugh in the battle between the two traditional clubs. Mohammedan did not pay attention to them on Tuesday. The last champion team can be continued as the national team. The day continued the winning streak by restricting Mohammedan to 190 runs before 90 balls to win by 8 wickets.

Abahani took on Mohammedan in the eighth round at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah. The azure-blue jersey holders have not lost any of the previous 7 matches. On the other hand, arch rival Mohammedan was at number two in the points table, losing only one out of 7 matches. They had an opportunity to give the rival club a taste of defeat. But after 2015, Mohammedan could not beat Abahani till now. Even today, the team formed by Naeem-Taskin-Bijoy-Saifuddin maintained the previous continuity.

Mohammedan set Abahani a target of 195 runs by batting earlier on Tuesday. Abahani defeated the opener Enamul Haque Vijay by 16 runs for the team. After that, Naeem Sheikh and Zaker Ali Anik shared a 106-run partnership for the second wicket. Abahani found the way to victory in this pair. Naeem returned to Sajghar after scoring 67 runs off Nasum. Abahani’s opener finished his innings with 5 fours and 3 sixes off 62 balls. After that, Zaker and Afif made an unbroken partnership of 73 runs for the third wicket to ensure the victory of the team. Zaker was unbeaten on 78 off 90 balls and Afif on 39 off 38 balls. Standing on the innings of these two men, Abahani reached the port of victory after losing 2 wickets in 35 overs.
