The first such museum of history has been built in the tribal district of Khyber, in which the two thousand five hundred year history of the Pashtun land, the equipment of the oldest nations living here, including the rare items of the conquerors and kings who passed through the Khyber Pass. The museum was conceptualized by Pashtun historian Brigadier (Rtd) Muhammad Ayaz Khan, while it was completed by Frontier Corps Inspector General (IG) Noor Wali at Fort Bala Hisar in Peshawar.

This museum is built inside the historical ‘Khyber Rifles Mess’, where the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and other eminent personalities from around the world have visited.

These personalities include Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, Princess Diana, former US President John F. Kennedy and his wife and many other world personalities, whose memorable photos of their visit are decorated in a gallery inside the same museum.

Ayaz Khan says that it is very strange that the history of the Khyber Pass, despite its importance, has never been thought of, thereby preserving not only the historical sites in Khyber district but also the history associated with the pass. would go

In a conversation with Independent Urdu, he said: “However, there was no such museum anywhere in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, but now we can proudly say that we have built a museum of international standards that is dedicated to the Pakhtuns.” It will be a source of pride for Pakistan in particular and for all of Pakistan in general.

Ayaz Khan further said that there is no such museum anywhere in Pakistan, where information is found about these famous Pashtun heroes, who have a great name and status in history but have been completely forgotten.

‘One of the special features of this museum is that there will be pictures and information of Pakhtun heroes and since they are not remembered, their pictures are also very difficult to find.’

He also informed that a gallery of information and details of the battles in which Khyber Rifles Mess participated has also been established in this museum. These wars include information and images of wars fought from the beginning of the 19th century until 1971 in the 20th century.

This museum presents history, antiquities, heritage, weapons, wars and visits of world personalities and their memorabilia in a very organized manner.

It is also worth noting that within a few months, not only the museum was constructed and the historical Khyber Rifles Mess was redecorated, but the Qila Ali Masjid and Mechni Post, built during the British era, have also been restored.

Ayaz Khan says that more than half of the two historic sites were destroyed and a lot of valuables were also missing.

However, he said that the fort was rebuilt with bricks similar to the old stone and the wood and copper of the old Diyar were cleaned and reused in the building and the fort was erected, from where the entire Peshawar valley including the Khyber Pass can be seen. , which is quite a fascinating sight.

Mohammad Ayaz Khan further said that the restoration of historical places will be further carried out to promote tourism and preserve the authentic history.
