A number of 4-star TNI generals have held positions during President Jokowi’s era. It is known that Jokowi served as President from 2014-2019 with Vice President Jusuf Kalla. Photo/SINDOnews
Then in the second period, Jokowi was re-elected together with Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin in 2019 until now in 2024 at the end of his term, Sunday (10/3/2024).
During Jokowi’s leadership, there were a number of 4-star generals who received important positions.
The following is a list of 4 star TNI generals, namely:
1. Retired TNI General Gatot Nurmantyo
In the era of President Jokowi, General Gatot Nurmantyo held the highest position as TNI Commander from 2015 to 2017. This 1982 graduate of the Military Academy (Akmil) then became Pati Headquarters of the TNI AD in 2017 before entering retirement.
2. TNI General Retired Mulyono
General Mulyono Mulyono is known to be close and loved by his soldiers. In one moment, he once removed the four-star rank from his service uniform to be closer to his soldiers. The highest position for this 1983 Military Academy graduate is Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD) in 2015.
3. TNI General Retired Andika Perkasa
In the Jokowi era, General Andika’s last position was TNI Commander in 2021. This 1987 Military Academy graduate is the son-in-law of former Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) AM Hendropriyono.
4. Retired TNI General Dudung Abdurachman
General Dudung Abdurachman’s highest position is Army Chief of Staff in 2021-2023. This 1988 Military Academy dropout was once a strong candidate for TNI Commander in Chief. The last position of this general, who was born on 19 November 1965 in Bandung, West Java, was Pati Headquarters TNI-AD in 2023, on the occasion of his retirement.
5. TNI General Agus Subiyanto
This 1991 Military Academy graduate now serves as TNI Commander. President Jokowi officially appointed General Agus Subiyanto as TNI Commander at the State Palace, Jakarta on Wednesday 22 November 2023. General Agus replaced the previous TNI Commander Admiral TNI Yudo Margono.
6. TNI General Maruli Simanjuntak
General Maruli Simanjuntak currently serves as Army Chief of Staff. President Jokowi officially inaugurated Maruli Simanjuntak as Army Chief of Staff at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday 29 November 2023. This 1992 Military Academy graduate previously served as Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Pangkostrad) in 2022-2023.
7. Marshal TNI Retired Agus Supriatna
Marshal Agus Supriatna’s highest position in the Jokowi era was as Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (KSAU) from 2015 to 2017. This 1983 graduate of the Air Force Academy (AAU) previously served as Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force from 2014-2015.
8. Retired TNI Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto
The TNI Commander for the 2017-2021 period is AAU 1986. This 4-star general from the TNI AU is a figure who was born on November 8 1963 in Malang, East Java. Hadi Tjahjanto now serves as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs replacing Mahfud MD.
9. Marshal TNI Retired Yuyu Sutisna
The KSAU from 2018 to 2020 was a 1986 AAU graduate. Marshal Yuyu Sutrisna also served as Deputy KSAU in 2017. This general, born on June 10 1962 in Cicalengka, Bandung, West Java, was involved in Operation Seroja and the eradication of the rebellion in Aceh.
10. TNI Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo
Since May 20 2020, Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo has served as KSAU. This general, who graduated from AAU in 1988, pilots the A-4 Skyhawk fighter aircraft with the callsign Bobcat. Previously, he served as Pangkogabwilhan II.
11. Retired TNI Admiral Ade Supandi
In the era of President Jokowi, Admiral Ade Supandi served as Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL) from 31 December 2014 to 23 May 2018. The general, born on 26 May 1960 in Batujajar, West Bandung, West Java, is a graduate of the Naval Academy (AAL) class 28th in 1983.
12. Retired TNI Admiral Siwi Sukma Adji
During Jokowi’s leadership, Admiral Siwi Sukma Adji served as KSAL from 23 May 2018 to 20 May 2020. Before serving as KSAL, this 1985 AAL graduate was Danjen of the TNI Academy from 2017 to 2018.
13. Retired TNI Admiral Yudo Margono
The TNI Commander from December 2022 to November 2023 is a graduate of AAL 1988-A. The general, who was born on 26 November 1965 in Garon, Balerejo, Madiun, East Java, previously served as KSAL for 2020-2022.
14. TNI Admiral Muhammad Ali
This general, who graduated from AAL in 1989, has now served as KSAL since 28 December 2022. Admiral Muhammad Ali was born on 9 April 1967 in Bandung, West Java, who previously served as Pangkogabwilhan I.
