A section of the intern doctors of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (Shebachim) Hospital has stopped medical services due to the formation of the Committee of Intern Physicians Association and Bangabandhu Intern Physicians Association.
They have closed medical services since Tuesday (March 19) noon. The patients are suffering.
According to related sources, on Tuesday, the committee of Intern Physicians Association and Bangabandhu Intern Physicians Association approved the director of the hospital. As a result, the medical services of 9 units of the hospital were completely stopped. However, the committee supporters performed their duties and kept the three units of the medicine ward operational. 190 intern doctors in Shebachim Hospital performed this duty in turn.
Sadman Bakir Sabab, the vice-president of the newly announced committee of the Intern Physicians Association, who led the movement, said, ’18 of the announced 31-member committee are standing against that committee. So there is no question of acceptance of the committee. The president of the committee is associated with the BNP-Jamaat family. The intern doctors will not return to service until the committee is canceled and a new committee is announced.’
