A four-day work week will be tested in Copenhagen – 2024-03-05 17:36:36

Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is experimenting with a flexible working week. This was reported by the Economic Department of Copenhagen Municipality.

The city’s public sector employees will be able to choose a four-day work week instead of the usual five.

“As a municipality, we must provide the best possible service to the citizens of Copenhagen. And therefore, we must do everything possible to create an attractive workplace with the right work-life balance, as it is essential for job satisfaction and attracting new employees. So I’m very pleased that we’re starting to trial the flexible working week. We are closely cooperating with professional organizations and I am looking forward to the opportunity to witness this experience,” TASS quoted Copenhagen Mayor Sophie Hestorp Andersen as saying.

Those who will be given the opportunity to test the new working week should use different models of work organization. For example, in the case of reduced working days, increase the duration of work or, in the case of fixed free days, maintain the previous number of working hours.

The jobs to conduct the test are very different, from employees who have direct contact with citizens to administrative workers.
