Publika.az reports that these words were said by Galib Asadov, a neurologist and a member of the European Academy of Neurology. Speaking about meningitis, the doctor noted that it is an inflammation of the meninges.
“The disease is mainly caused by various microbes and viruses: the entrance to the infection is the upper respiratory tract, mainly the nasopharynx. An inflammatory process develops where the causative microbe enters. The incubation period of Azar is 5-7 days. Severe headaches are the constant and first symptom of meningitis. Buy – in addition to headache in the hill area, pain and soreness in the throat, dry cough, nasal congestion, in rare cases, discharge of mucous-purulent secretions from the nose are characteristic constant complaints of patients. Along with these symptoms, in most cases, the general mood of the patient worsens: listlessness, lethargy, weakness, loss of appetite decrease, sleep disturbances are observed. In most patients, the body temperature usually rises to subfebrile numbers. But sometimes moderate and even high (over 39 C) fever occurs. Fever does not last more than 1-3 days. Skin covers are pale.
In meningitis, the headache is extremely severe, painful, often in a diffuse, undefined place of localization. In the evenings, it is especially intense, when the body changes its position, it is intensified by the effect of very loud noise and bright light. Often, patients complain of headaches. Vomiting in meningitis occurs suddenly without nausea, not related to food, does not give comfort to the patient, and sometimes occurs when the headache is aggravated,” Galib Asadov noted.
The doctor also emphasized that it is important to follow hygiene rules for the prevention of meningitis:
“You need to wash your hands regularly, use your own utensils and towels. There are vaccines against meningococcal, hemophilic bacillus and pneumococcus, which are the causative agents of bacterial meningitis. Protect yourself from the cold and take any headache seriously.”
