Two Indian players scored twice as Police Sporting Club won by a big margin in Premier Hockey League’s Super Six.
Police beat Ajax 9-1 at the Maulana Bhasani Stadium on Monday. Gurjit Singh and Deepak Patel scored two goals for the winning team. Besides, Abdul Malek, Rezaul Ahmed Ratul, Md. Afsar, Ahsan Habib and Pakistan national team midfielder Ihtisam Aslam scored one goal each. Ajax’s only goal came from the stick of India’s Silheiba Leesham.
In this victory, the police are at number five in the table with 20 points in 13 games. Ajax has collected 14 points in less than one game. The team is sixth in the table.
Today, the police players squeezed Ajax from the first quarter of the game. Malek, Ratul, Aslam scored 4 goals in the first quarter. Police took the lead on Malek’s field goal in the fourth minute of the game. Gurjit doubled the gap by scoring from the penalty corner in the seventh minute. In the next minute, Ratul’s field goal made the difference between police and Ajax 3-0. Aslam scored the fourth goal in the tenth minute.
In the first quarter Imran, Chand, Mehdi turned around in the second quarter. Ajax players fought equally with the police players. The second quarter ended scoreless. However, in the third and fourth quarter, the police saw the goal again. Leesham gave Ajax their first and only goal of the match in the 35th minute. Police Gurjit scored from the penalty corner in the 40th minute. The team went ahead with 5-1 goals. Afsar’s field goal in the 44th minute made the difference 6-1.
Deepak scored the seventh goal in 46 minutes. After a couple of minutes Deepak scored again. Police lead 8-1. The last goal of the game was scored in the 54th minute. Ahsan Habib scored the goal from the penalty corner.
The league will resume from April 14 after the Eid holiday.
