The renowned Cuban actress, María Karla Rivero Veloz, widely known as Maka, and her husband, the talented actor Jean Michel Fernández, recently experienced a distressing incident of robbery during their visit to Mexico.

According to the couple, the unfortunate event took place in the beautiful city of Playa del Carmen, where they had traveled for a vacation.

“While we were in Playa del Carmen, we went out for breakfast and when we returned to our car, we discovered that we had been robbed,” expressed Maka, who is currently based in Miami.

“I’m left without any clothes, not even underwear,” lamented Jean Michel, while Maka listed some of the stolen items, including Jean’s clothes, a new iPad, and Crocs belonging to their son, Iré.

Inside the car, where Maka’s mother, the renowned Cuban actress Coralita Veloz, was also present, Maka expressed the feeling of emptiness and helplessness that arises when one becomes a victim of theft, regardless of the value of the stolen items.

“And the saddest part is that after being robbed, when you go to file a complaint, they even charge you for it,” regretted Jean Michel, revealing that they had to pay 200 Mexican pesos to obtain the official complaint document.

“To receive the complaint form, they demand payment, even after you’ve been robbed,” Maka added, while also mentioning that they discovered the existence of a gang specializing in such crimes.

“Fortunately, we are safe and have our important documents with us,” acknowledged Maka. “Although they stole some belongings, including a few clothing items, they couldn’t take away our happiness,” remarked Jean Michel.

The resilient couple expressed their determination to continue enjoying their trip by purchasing replacements for the stolen items.
