It is expected that Eid-centered business will be in full swing in the fashion houses of various domestic brands. Although the Eid sales have not gathered much yet, but everyone expects that the business will be in full swing after ten days of fasting. Baisakh is coming right after Eid. Because of this, there will be other religious buyers along with the Muslim buyers in the Eid market.
As the two festivals are together, the fashion houses are keeping Eid and Baisakh in mind at the same time, and are putting together diverse designs, aesthetics and native clothes. The market for new clothes is constantly growing in Baisakh as the second selling occasion, although Eid has been selling the most for a long time. And this time two festivals have come together.
There are no accurate statistics of how many thousands of crores of rupees the Eid-centered economy is. However, according to the information of Fashion Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh, currently the fashion market in the country is more than 15 thousand crore rupees. Out of this, 25 to 30 percent are sold during Eid. Besides, about 10 percent is sold in Pahela Baisakh.
Entrepreneurs say that the business of luxury goods such as sarees, lungi, Punjabi, clothes, shoes and cars is also increasing during this big festival of Muslims. Besides, the size of this economy is also increasing year by year due to the increase in the purchasing power of a class of people.

Soumik Das, the director of the organization of fashion entrepreneurs and the leader of Color Bangladesh, told Jago News that, along with Eid, this year Baisakh has created a place to expect huge sales. For some years, Baisakh has been in fasting, this time it is after Eid. That’s why it will sell well. Now a large customer base has been created in Bengali New Year.
He also said that the highest sales in the whole year are during Eid. Then Boishakh. That is why the market seems to be good with the amount of demand that has come from all over the country so far. Because even if the sales have not yet gathered, buyers are coming to the showroom, looking from the beginning. Our preparation this year is better than other years.
Clothing reigns supreme in large parts of the Eid-centric economy. Since the beginning of fasting, Eid sales have gradually increased. For the last two weeks, vendors have not had time to suffocate the crowds of buyers.
Regarding the variety of clothes this Eid, several fashion house officials say that this time more clothes are being made which are suitable for both Eid and Baisakh festivals. Domestic clothing brands and fashion houses have now topped the list of buyers in the capital during the festival. The situation is the same in big cities like Chittagong, Sylhet, Bogra, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal outside Dhaka. There are about 6,000 fashion houses and boutique shops across the country, according to those concerned.
Meanwhile, in the showrooms of Bailey Road and Elephant Road, it has been seen that even though the mood of Eid has not fully started, the number of buyers has increased. Shops are more or less crowded after noon except iftar. Many people are looking at what kind of clothing is going on this time, some are buying it in advance.
An English medium teacher named Mashroufa was shopping with her family on Bailey Road. He said, this time the desire to go to the village a little earlier. That’s why I started shopping. In addition to Eid, this year we also have to buy light clothes to wear in Baisakh.
Sabuj Hasan, the manager of Artisan in Bailey Road, said, this time, Punjabi dresses for boys and party dresses for girls are trending ahead of Eid. Keeping in mind the hot weather, the demand for comfortable clothes and country style clothes is being noticed.
When asked, Zahidul Islam, in charge of Infinity, said that sales have not increased that way yet. Buyers are coming, watching. The main sale will be from ten days onwards. And at the last hour till midnight, the sales centers will be full of customers. This year the sales are expected to be higher than other years.
Shaheen Ahmed, chief executive of Anjans, feels that in addition to people’s purchasing power, there has been awareness among people in the last few decades. Besides, buyers have come out of the idea that ‘foreign clothes mean good’. Because of this, desi clothes are now gaining prominence in any festival. Still new designs of clothes are coming every day. Now is the last time to prepare for Eid. As everyone understands, this Eid will be good.
