Mr. Muhammad Ali Al-Qaed, CEO of the Information and e-Government Authority, confirmed that employing advanced technologies in government digital initiatives and projects contributed during 2023 to increasing productivity and enhancing government performance in light of an innovative and stimulating work environment for providing government services, stressing that the continuity of the wheel of development of the government services system and its sustainability through adapting Advanced technologies, their employment, accelerating the pace of digital transformation, and improving the quality of government services provided in efficiency, effectiveness, and performance, emanate from the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and come in fulfillment of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince. This came during the press conference held by the Information and e-Government Authority at its headquarters in Muharraq to provide a summary of the achievements of the electronic transformation program for the year 2023, with the participation of the Executive Vice President of Electronic Transformation at the authority, Dr. Zakaria Ahmed Al Khaja, and a number of directors, and in the presence of representatives from the media and local newspapers.
In this regard, the CEO of the Authority, Mr. Mohammed Al-Qaed, indicated that the Authority has worked during 2023 to continue its efforts in implementing electronic transformation projects for all government services and improving and developing the user experience, based on its commitment to the decisions of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communications Technology, headed by His Excellency General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al. Khalifa, Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Committee, in coordination and cooperation with all government agencies, and this was embodied by the launch of 66 new electronic services during the year 2023, bringing the total number of electronic services to more than 680 integrated electronic services available in the e-government channels (492 services through the national portal, 157 services through applications). Al-Qaed also confirmed that the Authority will work to implement more national digital projects and initiatives to accelerate the pace of sustainable government digital transformation in terms of services provided in accordance with the government program (2023-2026), whose positive effects will be felt by citizens and residents, in addition to continuing to provide various forms of support to government and private agencies to ensure they keep pace. To use modern technologies and adapt advanced technology to enable it to benefit from technical solutions to provide its services in easy ways and with quick steps that enhance users’ confidence in them.
During the press conference, Dr. Zakaria Ahmed Al Khaja, Executive Vice President for Electronic Transformation, confirmed that the Authority was able, by harnessing modern technologies, to provide digital services available for use across various electronic platforms, channels, devices and smartphones, explaining in this regard that the statistics and indicators for the electronic transformation sector during 2023 were a reflection of Due to the efforts of the Authority’s team made by the joint teams between the Authority and the rest of the government institutions, indicating that the language of numbers during 2023 reflected positive indicators. He also pointed out during the press conference that the digital transformation process during 2023 witnessed a noticeable acceleration through the authority’s success in launching many initiatives and developing government systems and electronic channels through developing and modernizing 4 electronic platforms and channels, pointing to the development of the national portal for the Kingdom of Bahrain, Bahrain.bh. The new and developed version of the National Portal was launched with a new design and the latest version. New features were also improved and added to the National Platform for Suggestions and Complaints (Tawasul), in addition to launching the updated version of the Government Services Guide with a new design and information. In addition to government applications, the Authority launched the application of the National Appointments System “Mawawid”, which The formation of a unified national platform enabled users to book appointments for government service centers in both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Urban Development and Planning Authority, and the platform will see more service agencies being included in it during the next phase. In addition, 395 new services have been linked to the National Payments Platform, indicating that the platform witnessed the implementation of four development initiatives, which were the launch of the multi-payment system for municipalities and buildings projects, the launch of the quick response code (QR-Code) service for the payment balance, in addition to the development of the billing system and Linking it to the health certificate of the Ministry of Health, and launching the Apple Pay & BenefitPay payment services with other government agencies. He added that, in terms of developing national systems, 16 national government systems have been developed, led by the 3.0 records system, the birth and death registration system, and the national correspondence system.
Regarding the most prominent services launched during the year 2033, the Ministry of Interior’s services came at the forefront by launching 26 services, including 14 services specialized in the security and safety sector and 12 services for the identity, passports and visas sector, while the rest of the launched services were distributed among a number of sectors, as the health sector included the launch of 9 services.
