Four people, including two police officers, were killed in a shooting at a house in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. The third person is a firefighter and the other is the suspected attacker. A family with seven children was held captive inside the house by an armed man. The children were aged between 2 and 15 years. He also kept several guns and a large amount of ammunition in the house.
Police officers responded to a two-story home in Burnsville, Minnesota after receiving an emergency call. Then the man first opened fire at the police from inside the house. Later the police officers fired back. Then this casualty happened. The suspected armed person was also killed.
Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans said there was an exchange of gunfire. Describing the day as ‘terrible’, he said details of the incident were being gathered.
Based on the information received initially, he said that the deceased fireman worked as a paramedic. He was shot while rendering emergency medical aid to an injured officer at the scene.
The suspect was in possession of several guns and a large amount of ammunition. The man fired at the police officers from multiple locations, including the top and ground floor of the house. At least one officer was shot inside the house.
He said, ‘We still cannot say anything about the exchange of bullets. But it is certain that several officers must have fired back.’
Evans also said the suspect was found dead around 8 a.m. Monday. The detainees are unharmed and have been safely evacuated.
