Most of the areas of Feni have been devastated by the Kalbaisakhi storm. About three lakh customers of rural electricity have been cut off due to uprooted trees. Although the traffic system is operational on the highways and regional roads, the rural roads of six upazilas are not yet operational.

Sources from the Rural Electricity Office said that 117 electric poles and wires were snapped at 839 places in the Kalbaisakhi storm. Trees fell on wires at 976 places. 58 transformers were destroyed. 509 meters were broken. After 12 o’clock on Monday, 100% power supply was disconnected in the district. Even though electricity comes to the city at night, three lakh of the four lakh rural electricity customers are still disconnected. Many rural roads are disconnected.

A young man named Ikramul Haque said that there is no electricity since yesterday. Refrigerated perishables are perishing. Boys and girls are not able to study.

Arifur Rahman, a resident of Omrabad village in Daganbhunya upazila, said that there is no mobile network in addition to electricity. Mobile off since yesterday due to no electricity.

General Manager of Feni Palli Vidyut Samity Howladar Md. Fazlur Rahman said that several teams are working to normalize the electricity connection. The poles need to be renovated. New transformers will be installed in some areas. As a result, it is not possible to say when the electricity will be normal.
