Chernihiv resident Olga Samoilenko told AFP she was with her children in the corridor of their apartment building when the first missile exploded.

Meanwhile, emergency services said that 60 people, including three children, were injured in the Russian attack. The mayor of the city, Oleksandr Lomako, said that more than a dozen buildings were damaged by the fire. Dozens of vehicles and medical and educational institutions were also damaged, other officials said.

President Zelensky blamed Russia for the attack. At the same time, he said, Western countries should provide more support to Ukraine to resist Russian attacks.
