Zimbabwe referees for Libya-Mauritius match

The Libyan Football Federation announced today, Wednesday, the appointment of a Zimbabwean team to manage the match between the Libyan national team and its counterpart, the Mauritian national team, within the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, Group Four.

The technical meeting for the match was held this evening, headed by the Djiboutian observer and in the presence of representatives of the two teams, the refereeing staff and observers.

The Libyan Football Federation said that all arrangements related to the match were discussed, confirming that it will start at exactly 6 pm at the Martyrs of Benina International Stadium in Benghazi.

The Federation added that the match will be managed by an international refereeing team from Zimbabwe, and will be open to sports fans.

The Libyan Football Association said that the Libyan national team will appear in red and black jerseys, while the visiting team will appear in white jerseys.

The national team enters the match with four points, in third place, tied with the first-placed Cameroon team in points, as well as the second-placed Cape Verde team.

On the other hand, Mauritius enters the fifth place with one point. In the same group, Angola hosts Eswatini at home and Cameroon faces Cape Verde at home.

Micho, the national team coach, made his list devoid of professional players under the pretext that they refused to join the team, according to him.

The Libyan team is required to win against Mauritius by the largest number of goals and draw in its next match against Cape Verde, to strengthen its position in Group Four.
