Zelenski asks international “determination” against Russia

The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, asked international actors who want to show determination against Russia after the massive attack against Ukraine launched by the Russian army on Saturday night on Sunday, which according to preliminary figures has left at least twelve dead throughout the country, including several children.

“Without a strong pressure on the Russian authorities, this brutality cannot be stopped,” Zelenski said in a message in his Telegram account in which he alluded to the need for “determination” against Moscow. “Determination is what counts now, the determination of the United States, the determination of Europeans and that of all who in the world want peace,” said the Ukrainian head of state.

For Zelenski, “the sanctions will help” against Russia. “The world knows all the weaknesses of the Russian economy. It is possible to stop war, but only with the necessary force to press Russia,” said the president, who already on Saturday, after another night of bombing that left dead and injured in Ukraine, asked for more international pressure on Moscow and the leader of the Russian regime, Vladimir Putin.

“Silence encourages Putin”

“Putin must be forced not to think of launching missiles, but to end the war,” said the Ukrainian president, who urged not to ignore the reality of Russian aggression. “The silence of the United States” and “The silence of others in the world is the only thing that encourages Putin,” he added.

According to the data presented by Zelenski in his message, Russia launched 300 drones, most of them Shahed model, of Iranian manufacture, and almost 70 missiles of different types. 266 of those drones and 45 of the missiles were intercepted, according to data from the Ukrainian defense forces.

Zelenski described the bombings of “Deliberate attack against cities” in which the objectives were, among others, residential buildings, including a university residence in kyiv and business facilities. “Unfortunately, there are dead, including children. My condolences,” Zelenski said. “Each and every of these terrorist attacks are a sufficient reason to sanction Russia,” said the Ukrainian head of state. Source: news
