Kostas Zachariadis characterizes the resounding intervention of the former president of SYRIZA-PS, Alexis Tsipras, on the historic first day of the party’s 4th congress, which has triggered developments, as “absolutely positive”.
“He raises his boy and says things the way he sees them”, the member of the Political Secretariat said of the former prime minister speaking to ANT1, while admitting that “we have a serious leadership problem in SYRIZA”.
He added, however, that there is “one process that this leadership can change”, noting that “during the Kasselakis period, instead of SYRIZA taking a step towards stabilization, the party is collapsing”.
“SYRIZA is organizationally and politically dehydrated” he then added.
“SYRIZA can return and of course there will be an oppositional candidacy at the conference”, he noted regarding the possibility of running for the presidency opposite Stefanos Kasselakis.
“In my opinion, yes, Olga Gerovasili can play the connecting role”, he replied to a related question.
“I did not join an opposing party. This is an apolitical, authoritarian treatment” he said about the disgust of Stefanos Kasselakis “bring me an opponent and let’s go…”.
“We must conduct a political and normal dialogue in our party, we will not make it an arena. We are not facing enemies”, said Kostas Zachariadis.
Asked if he will remain in SYRIZA in the event of the re-election of Stefanos Kasselakis, Kostas Zachariadis said that, “in 20 years I have changed three presidents and I will change a fourth”.
“There is no blank check for anyone, nor is SYRIZA a party of 4%” he concluded.
