After stabbing his drinking buddy to death, Dao Quang Duy went to an acquaintance’s house to continue drinking and then slept overnight. The next morning, the young man turned himself in.
On August 26, the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Dak Lak Province Police announced that the unit had issued a decision to temporarily detain Dao Quang Duy (24 years old, residing in Tu An Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province) to investigate the act of murder.
The victim in this case is Mr. Nguyen L. (36 years old, residing in Thanh Cong ward, Buon Ma Thuot city).

According to initial investigation, on the afternoon of August 24, Duy and Mr. L. and some friends went to drink at a restaurant on Phan Boi Chau Street, Buon Ma Thuot City.
While drinking, Duy and Mr. L. got into an argument. When Mr. L. went to stand in front of the restaurant, Duy followed and asked Mr. L. to come in and talk to resolve the conflict. However, Mr. L. replied that he did not want to talk to Duy anymore.
Out of anger, Duy pulled out a knife he had hidden in his pocket and stabbed Mr. L. in the left chest. After being stabbed, Mr. L. ran into the shop and was stopped by people and taken to the emergency room.
However, the victim died from a 23cm penetrating wound to the left chest that punctured his lung and stomach, causing blood loss. After committing the crime, Duy threw the knife along the road and continued to go to an acquaintance’s house to drink and stay overnight.
On the morning of August 25, when he heard that Mr. L. had died, Duy returned home and then went to the police station to surrender and confess his crime.
